Scholarship as a form of life — fundamental questions, global perspectives.
I work in legal philosophy and global constitutionalism. My work in legal philosophy centres on the concept of law and its implications for the character of legal scholarship and legal argumentation. In global constitutionalism, I focus on proportionality analysis, the balancing of rights, and the institutional dimension of constitutions both within and beyond the nation state. My approach is mostly analytical and normative; empirical case studies serve to exemplify and stress-test theoretical arguments.
